Project Evaluation—A Different Perspective
At Key Associates NI we have been involved in both delivering and evaluating funded projects within the community and voluntary sector. First hand experience of a range of projects including youth projects, capacity building and essential skills has shown us how, in spite of difficulties, projects can have a lasting effect on the lives of all involved. It is from this perspective that we would invite you to consider Key Associates NI for your project evaluation.
Evaluation is an essential part of the life of any project, being the justification for its existence, expenditure and the argument for the continuation of its work.
As projects reach the end of one phase and prepare to move forward to the next evaluation is an area that requires special consideration. Project evaluation provides a snapshot of work that has taken place and can show how the lives of individuals and communities have changed as a result.
Evaluation can be a useful and positive experience that promotes learning and action. Often what is learned from a project evaluation is as important as what the project produces or creates. We favour the process of participatory evaluation, which is a shared approach that builds on strengths and values the contribution of all those involved in the project, at all levels. Participatory evaluation makes it possible to recognise shared interests among those doing the work, the people the work is designed to reach, the project funders and other stake holders.
For many people the language of evaluation can be a barrier that may prevent the evaluation being as effective as it might be. We try to avoid this by using ‘plain language’ throughout all the evaluation processes.
